North Bonneville Heritage Trails
About the Trails
The trails vision and plans...
The Plan...
Still Early...
It is the goal of the Heritage Trails plan to uncover and preserve the many natural and historical treasures to be found in and surrounding North Bonneville.
The Heritage Trails system will eventually consist of four color coded interpretive routes all originating at a common trailhead... the Downtown Trail Station. Each route will travel through a different part of the city and/or its immediate surroundings all while highlighting the sights, sounds and history that make this area so unique. A completed Heritage Trails network will ultimately consist of specific routings connecting the town center to Strawberry Island, Bonneville Dam, Fort Cascades and the Bonneville Hot Springs Resort.
Currently only the first trail route (The Hamilton Creek Trail) is signed and marked. It consists of a 2.5 mile level and paved route with interpretive stops at seasonal Hamilton Creek for fish viewing (the fish runs occur mostly in fall and winter), Hamilton Mountain viewpoints, and a peak into the bordering Pierce Wildlife Refuge.
As the Heritage Trails plan is still in its beginning stages, stay tuned for updates on new trails and their routes. Also refer to the Friends of the Heritage Trails Page to get involved in and become part of future planning for the trails.
